Today I wanted to share this video with you about their lighted barrier gate bar they call the “Octagonal Lighted Signal Arm”. This option was recently added to their barrier gate operator, model 1601.
They tout it as a means to “Light the way for customers to exit easily and safely with signals and sensors” and I agree. As the video shows, the barrier gate arm is lit in red with LEDs when in the closed, horizontal position. It continues to be illuminated in red while rising 90 degrees to the vertical, or open, position. Then it changes to a green hue when closed as an obvious visual alert to drivers that they can proceed safely.
The vehicle moves forward to enter or exit and then a device such as a vehicle detector loop or photoelectric beams relays the gate operator that it has cleared. The red LEDs can be seen at far distances as well as in low visibility weather conditions.
The 1601 barrier gate arm can either be mounted on the left or the right side of the roadway. Both 12 and 14-foot arm lengths are available. Folding arms are offered where the ceilings are low clearance. Other options include break-away arms and pedestrian protection systems.
