This is the employee entrance to the Loyola Medical Center parking Deck B off 3rd Avenue in Maywood. This extensive WPS Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) was installed by ECI in 2019 for Loyola.
The ground-level single access lane to the parking garage is pictured above. You see to the right in the background the combined barrier gate and gate operator. The barrier gate arm is shown in the closed (horizontal) position.
At the lower left is an access control proximity card reader on a gooseneck pedestal. Staff and employees can enter once they present appropriate credentials.
The image to the left is at the exit lane leading to 3rd Avenue. The same configuration is installed here with one addition. You see the combination barrier gate and gate operator, access control reader and Valu-Pass proximity reader and display. Also included on the gooseneck is an intercom that allows communication to the security desk in case of difficulty.
Please note the darker grey triangles in the pavement on the egress lane. These are sealed driveway cuts for vehicle detector loops. They signal when a vehicle approaches the barrier gate to activate the readers. Once the vehicle exits and clears the gate, it relays to close the gate.
There are yellow protective bollards in both pictures which hopefully guard against damage from errant vehicles. ECI also installed the conduit work, junction boxes and all electrical wiring and connections.
