Shown above are dual access and egress lanes for a multi-level parking garage in a near west Chicago suburb. ECI acted as a subcontractor on this installation. We replaced the old automatic barrier gates (shown below), installed the protective bollards and vehicle detector loops.
We also extended the concrete island, cleaned up and replaced old conduit work and wiring and also pulled new high and low voltage wiring. The intercom and access control devices shown on the goose neck pedestals were moved to their new positions.
Magnetic’s Parking Pro automatic barrier gates were used for this application. This model provides access control for lanes up to 12 feet in width and are available in numerous colors (shown here in white). They have a fast opening/closing time and can detect vehicles attempting to tailgate. Each is designed for up to 10 million opening and closing cycles for heavy traffic locations.
Available options include articulated arms (see access lane to right) for areas with low ceilings and breakaway flanges which completely detach the arm in case of extreme collision. Several lighting options are available to illuminate the barrier arms. Battery backup and heaters are also available.
Vehicle detector loops sense when a car or truck approaches and activates the access control equipment. Another detects a vehicle is exiting and relays the automatic barrier operator to open and allow egress. The newly installed bollards help protect the equipment from damage due to errant collisions by vehicles.
