Barrier Gates Exit Loyola Parking Garage Deck B

Barrier Gates Exit Loyola Parking Garage Deck B

I wrote about “Barrier Gate Employee Parking Lot 14 At Loyola In Maywood” last month. In it, I discussed the access lane configuration for that lot.

Today I want to discuss the dual egress lanes pictured above. They are located on Deck B at the Loyola Medical Center campus’ parking garage. It is part of the extensive WPS Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) we installed there in 2019.

This is a great example of the many pieces of hardware that go into a parking access and revenue control system. You see two barrier gates with arms in the closed, horizontal positions in the background. Each lane is equipped with (shown in detail to the left) an access control proximity card reader (left) for staff and employees on the black gooseneck pedestal.

Shown to the right of the pedestal is a larger configuration assembly. It includes a WPS validation receipt reader as well as a Valu-Pass proximity reader. Valu-Pass readers debit the cardholders credit balance towards the parking fees. Amounts can easily be added to a pass at pay stations and even online.

Also pictured in the top image are dual vehicle detector loops on each egress lane. You can plainly see the sealed black cut marks in the concrete. Also notice the several yellow protective bollards which help to minimize accidental damage to the sensitive equipment from vehicles. There is also a red emergency call station in the middle island.

Included are conduit work and electrical wiring and connections.
