Slide Gate and Gate Operator at Tank Farm
ECI recently completed this small project at a pharmaceutical company’s tank farm in one of Chicago’s far north suburbs. The client was seeking a way to secure the tank farm from unauthorized access.
Chuck Duda, our vehicle access control systems project manager, proposed a simple and relatively affordable solution. The remedy consisted of installing a slide gate, Nice/HySecurity’s SlideSmart gate operator and a basic control station. Both the slide gate and the gate operator are shown in the above picture.
Typical gates are normally secured with only chains and locks. Now drivers merely present their access credentials at the wall mounted control station to either open or close the gate without having to remove and reinstall chains and a lock.
Because of scheduling deadlines ECI electricians were also able to run all conduits as well as the power requirement (in addition) to the hardware for the project.

An uninterruptible backup power supply is included in case of power outage and optional accessories are also available. Entrapment protection is required for fully automated operation.
