I found an interesting little blurb on the internet on the Warrington Guardian website entitled: “Winwick Primary School plan to improve road safety with gate“. Officials at a primary school in town are proposing to install swing vehicle barrier gates. This is in an effort to provide improved safety for the school’s pupils.
The proposal is to install gates on the private road leading to the parking area which runs along the street adjacent to the school. There is a safety concern since the road is used by vehicles to drop off students at the start of school and pick them up at the end of the school day.
The road is in disrepair and in need of resurfacing. Part of the problem is the road is used by cars after school hours.
The swing gate barriers will be installed at either end. They “are to be locked at specified times to eliminate traffic and ensure child safety when arriving at and leaving the site.”
The gates will be manually operated (which can be converted to automatic swing gates in the future). Pedestrian gates and a high-security fence are included in the proposal.
Warrington is a town in Cheshire, England lying between Liverpool on the east and Manchester on the west.
Winwick Church of England Primary School announced just this past Sunday that children will be returning to classrooms on Monday, March 8th. They have a very lovely website.
