Vehicle Access Control Devices at Greif

I wrote last week about an extensive project ECI was involved with at Greif Packaging in Alsip, Illinois. The image above shows a number of devices included in the vehicle access control system we installed. I also want to point out the care and detail, as well as pride, we take in our professional work.

The large black box shown at right of center is another new HySecurity SlideSmart™ HD25 automatic sliding gate operator. It is located at one of the egress lanes at the location.

The gray box above the far upper right corner is a control box for a Cellgate 410 Telephone Entry System (not shown).

There is a pole and conduit to the left of the gate operator. An Infinity RFID Reader is atop the pole and an Tomar Strobeswitch™ Detector sits on top of the conduit.

The reader automatically identifies authorized vehicles as they approach the gate. It reads an RFID tag mounted on windshields, headlights or on vehicle mirrors and provides hands-free access or egress without requiring drivers to stop or present credentials manually

The strobeswitch detector identifies a strobe signal from an emergency vehicle and automatically open gates or barriers to allow for rapid, immediate entry. Together the system can be configured for different access levels as well as vehicle types

Stacking photo-electric beams and an edge sensor are shown on the left edge of the fence. They work together to detect objects or people in the path of the gate. When either beam is interrupted, it triggers the safety mechanism to stop or reverse the gate/door movement.

The contact strip provides an additional layer of protection. If the strip comes into physical contact with an object or person, it immediately signals the control system to again stop or reverse. This acts as a last line of defense if an object or person manages to bypass the photo-electric beams.
