Raptor Bollards at Federal Reserve Chicago

Raptor Bollards at Federal Reserve Chicago

The Raptor retractable bollards shown above were recently installed by ECI at the Federal Reserve in Chicago. They provide crash rated, anti-ram security even when installed as a single unit and offer quiet and smooth operations.

The bollards are a shallow mount requiring just a 20” depth of excavation. Concrete reinforced with rebar cages is not required in the installation process since the bollards come equipped with integrated rebar.

When fully extended, the bollard height is 39 inches and can be raised in 1.5 seconds in an emergency situation. The normal operation period is five seconds.

They fold flat to the ground surface when lowered and have slip-resistant tops. Pedestrians avoid tripping since there are no protruding points and snow plows (especially in the Chicagoland area) can operate without obstruction.

Raptor bollards also have a much narrower profile width than a typical wedge shaped barrier. They can be installed individually or in a row to provide access security for any size width. Access by pedestrians and bicycles is rather easy even when the bollards are extended.

Because of the unique design and operation, there is no need for safety devices to guard against potential points of entrapment.

When you sum this all up, the Raptor bollard presents a great alternative to automatic bollards as well as wedge barriers and may be more cost effective.
