Hayward Waist High Turnstiles

Hayward Waist High Turnstiles

ECI furnished and installed the three Hayward waist high turnstiles (pictured above) at a site in a southern suburb of Chicago. This was at an employee entrance.

Waist-high turnstiles are also known as tripod turnstiles, since they turn one-third of a revolution at a time. They are designed to manage pedestrian traffic in or out of a point of entry. A single person is allowed access at a time through each turnstile.

There is a handicap accessible gate shown in tandem to the right of the turnstiles. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates access for individuals in wheelchairs or those with mobility impairments.

Gates typically have wider passages and can be equipped with automated swing mechanisms. This gate ensures compliance with the ADA regulations and provides a total user-friendly entry point.

This combination is mainly used to control traffic flow. It is considered low level security. As you can see, someone can easily slide or vault over them.

Waist-level turnstiles are designed to be more inviting than full-height turnstiles. They are a great solution for controlling access without seeming too confining.

These turnstiles are commonly used in various settings, such as stadiums, sports and entertainment venues and office lobbies or entries (as above). They are typically used where access control is desired but full-height security is not required.

Waist-high turnstiles come in different variations, including sleek stainless steel or rugged powder-coated finishes. They can lock either on entry or exit, or spin freely and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

They can be used in a single application or in a series (as above) to slow down traffic flow. They create a border to entry and are an economical choice for a variety of applications since they are typically less expensive than full height turnstiles. They can be integrated with access control devices, cameras and CCTV devices for higher level security needs.
