Roseland Community Hospital Automated Barrier Gate
I wanted to show you some of the detailed work ECI did when we installed a new automated barrier gate at Roseland Community Hospital a few years ago. The hospital is located on Chicago’s far south side.
Shown above is the new Elka Vehicle Parking Barrier Gate. It provides access to hospital employees and other authorized personnel in the parking lot just across the street. (You are viewing the hospital entrance from the lot.)
Roseland Community Hospital Conduit Work After
We installed a new card reader (by others), the gooseneck pedestal and more importantly eliminated the old rusted gate operator box and the associated above-ground conduit work. We also replaced the electrical wiring where needed.
You can see the ‘before’ image to the right below and the ‘after’ image work on the left. The barrier gate operator and relays are now self-contained in the same box as the barrier gate itself.

There is free egress from the lot. When a vehicle drives over the vehicle detector loop a relay is activated and the automatic barrier gate opens. The vehicle leaves and the exit vehicle detector loop signals the barrier gate to close.
