New Barrier Gates for UIC Parking Lot 9

New Barrier Gates for UIC Parking Lot 9

Earlier this year most of the parking access control equipment and conduit at parking lot 9 at the University of Illinois – Chicago Campus was destroyed by a vehicle. An image of the replacement equipment is shown above.

The image shows two new automatic barrier gates by WPS that ECI furnished and installed. We also installed all the new electrical conduit, wiring and interconnections as well as the vehicle detector loops (cuts shown in the pavement in the foreground).

The access control readers and the parking assistance module (tall black cylindrical unit) were furnished by UIC and we installed and connected them. The concrete island work and protective bollards were installed by others.

Shown below is a collage of some images of the remaining equipment that was destroyed by the vehicle. You can see the remnants of the old barrier gate operator, access control reader, a slightly bent protective bollard and even a bent out of shape yellow stanchion (supportive end of the barrier gate arm) at the lower right.
