The Landings

I am literally amazed each day at how small the world is becoming. I read an article from a property management company in Malaysia called EdgeProp.

The company’s web site is a resource for various properties and sites available for sale or rental for both home buyers and investors. They include information on pricing as well as pictures of properties and maps.

What struck me was a particular article written this month entitled “Sustainable by design“. The article describes Windows on the Park, a residential gated community of 540 condominium units in three high rise towers.

I’m not going to describe the area nor condominium units that are available. Neither you nor I are about to relocate there and I doubt whether we are interested in investment property there as well, especially at this time.

What I will discuss is the similarity in terms of perimeter security I found mentioned in the article. There was a reference to an access card system, CCTV, barrier gates, etc. To buffer security in the near future management will also be installing “a radio frequency identification (RFID) system at the main entrance of the guard house.”

I also saw images of properties in other locations, many with perimeter swing gates and slide gates at entrances to those properties.

Malaysia is located east of Indonesia and south of Vietnam and Thailand in the Indian Ocean. The city-state of Singapore rests at the south end of the peninsula. The distance between Malaysia and the U.S. is over 9,000 miles.

Frankly, I never imagined discussing residential gated communities in a country such as Malaysia that use the same type of equipment as ECI installs locally. But, here I am doing just that.
