DoorKing Sliding Gate Operator
Last year ECI was called to complete a new slide gate access control installation for Campanella & Sons, Inc. in Wadsworth Illinois. A new gate (see image below) was added to the property, and we furnished and installed a DKS™ DoorKing® 9150 Vehicular Slide Gate Operator (see image above) for it. We also provided power, conduit, connections and the concrete pad for post mounting. This was the second project ECI did for the company.

The slide gate operator is available in two models: one with a 1/2 HP motor and another with a 1 HP motor. The 1/2 HP model accommodates gates up to 30 feet in length and weighing a maximum of 1,000 pounds. The larger horsepower model works with gates up to 45 feet long and weighing a maximum of 1,500 pounds.
Each operator can be configured for a front, rear of center drive application. The gates themselves must be in good condition and operate on a level surface for an operator to work efficiently. A five-year limited warranty is included.
Among the many features included with these DKS operators are:
- A galvanized steel frame to help prevent rusting.
- Anti-tailgating to help reduce unauthorized vehicle access.
- Partial open feature that allows long gates to open partially for different types of vehicles.
- Built-in mechanical and electronic reverse system.
- Fail-safe release.
There are two stacking photoelectric beams mounted on the gate post on the far right (top image). The beams act as entrapment devices and detect people or objects obstructing the closing of the automatic gate. If someone or something breaks the beam the gate stops and reverses. Secondary entrapment protection devices are also required with this gate operator.
