Barrier Gate with Valu-Pass - Entry Loyola Lot B

Barrier Gate with Valu-Pass – Entry Loyola Lot B

I have been writing about the extensive WPS Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) we installed at Loyola’s Medical Center in Maywood, IL in 2019. Today I want to discuss the equipment at the entrance to deck parking at lot B for staff and additional parking for the health and fitness center.

As you can see from the picture above this is a dual lane access for parking and revenue control. Vehicles are sent in different directions depending on the final destination of the driver (and passengers).

Each lane is equipped with a barrier gate, access control reader (on black goose neck pedestal), a Valu-Pass reader, two-vehicle detector loops cut into the pavement as well as yellow protective security bollards. All conduit boxes, wiring and connections were also included.

I want to point out a slight difference between the equipment on each access lane. All of the equipment listed above is included in the staff only left lane as pictured below.

Please note that the right lane has an additional intercom on the black goose neck pedestal. This is in case a visitor encounters difficulty and allows them to contact the security department. Just inside the garage entry, you can see the overhead signs directing the driver to either proceed straight ahead or to turn right. Left turns are not permitted.
