Ballistic Rated Guard Booth and Barrier Gates

Ballistic Rated Guard Booth and Barrier Gates

I want to continue to share the story I began last week about the installation of a “Level 4 Ballistic Resistant Guard Booth Newly Installed” in a secure Chicago suburban location. The guard booth, supplied by Porta-King, is a testament to ECI’s unwavering commitment to providing top-tier perimeter security solutions.

The guard booth is designed to withstand multiple hits from armor-piercing rounds. It is mounted on a crafted concrete pad ECI helped design. The image above shows the guard booth along with a set of Magnetic Automatic Barrier Gates to regulate vehicular access and egress.

The concrete pad is shown in more detail in the image below. The six vertical steel cylinders are bollards meant to safeguard the guard booth and barrier gate equipment from potential vehicular impact. The posts will be covered as part of the final installation.

Precision alignment and care were required in the installation process. The image on the left, below shows the 30-ton crane delicately lowering the guard booth onto the pavement area, Positioning Ballistic Rated Giard Booth

Vehicle detector loops are not shown but will be embedded in the pavement to facilitate the smooth operation of the barrier gate system. One on the access side will sense when a vehicle clears the barrier gate arm and operator. It will then relay the operator to lower the barrier gate arm.

One loop on the egress side will sense when a vehicle approaches and stops to exit. It relays for the gate arm to be raised if a guard is not present. The second acts in the same manner as the loop on the access side to relay the operator when the vehicle has passed through and it is safe to lower the arm.

The final stages of the installation will encompass seal coating of the pavement. Stay tuned for more updates.
