It has been several of months since I last reported about loss of control vehicular crashes or low speed crashes. Late last year I wrote about a crash at the Antioch Chamber of Commerce office as well as the incident where a vehicle crashed through an entrance at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. There were no major injuries to report in either of those cases.

However, this was not the case last June when I reported: “Chicago Area Low Speed Accidents Call For Security Bollards“. In one incident a driver was trapped in his burning car and then taken to a hospital after the car crashed into an empty space at a Palatine shopping center. Just two days following that incident one woman was killed and another injured when a Chicago policeman lost control of his vehicle and it crashed into a Chicago restaurant.

The above video shows the horrific damage to a McHenry Starbucks after a pickup truck crashed through the building just last week. According to a story on CBS Chicago, “Witnesses Describe Horror Of Accident That Sent Pickup Flying Into McHenry Starbucks,” the truck first hit a car in the drive up and then slammed into the building. The driver apparently had some type of medical incident. All told, five people were injured. There were more than 20 people in the coffee shop and the toll could have been much higher.

Can perimeter security bollards protect your patrons from injury and your establishment from extensive damage?
