Access Controls at UIC Parking Lot

Access Controls at UIC Parking Lot

As written prior, ECI recently completed a large parking access revenue and control system (PARCS) for the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The above picture is for another one of the parking lot locations.

Parking at this lot is limited only to those holding credentials. There is no revenue collected here. Only patrons with Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) transponders or access control credentials are allowed to use it.

Turnkey Access Control Installation

This was a rather large project within a larger project for ECI. The entire lot was a new, fresh concrete pour. Work by ECI included forming, piping in conduit, overseeing pouring of the new concrete, installing all wiring as well as installing and testing of the new access control equipment. Outside of the main electrical feed and concrete mixing, it was practically an entire turnkey installation.

Installed equipment included: two barrier gates, two card access control readers, two AVI readers, four vehicle detector loops, code blue emergency phone station, yellow steel bollards protecting the equipment from accidental damage from vehicles, flange mounted post and T-bracket for the AVI readers.

  • The AVI readers are pictured on the pole arms above the centers of the access and egress lanes.
  • The vehicle detector loops were preformed and installed in the framing before the concrete pour. Normally we saw cut existing concrete to install.

WPS parking control systems provided the The Parking and Access Revenue Control equipment.
